Final cruising days
Next day was again too rough to move about. There were a couple of lectures, but otherwise I stayed put with the company of the Underwoods S5 House of Cards. Bless you Netflix and your download options.
Below is a shot of the rope lines erected in the lounge area during rough seas; something to cling to as one lurches from side to side.
We reached our sheltered spot around 7pm, making for a much easier dining experience. Around 8pm we received another Aurora alert, even though we were within sight of Iceland. The green tinge was more evident this time and multiple stripes across the sky. What a wonderful way to end the cruise.
On the morning of 25 September we had breakfast while our luggage was taken off and cleared through Customs. At 8.15am our buses arrived and by 8.40 we were loaded and on our way back to Reykjavik. (Clearly this was not a Nexus tour, Sam)
Lugged my suitcases to my overnight stay, cursing the incline, but actually managing quite well. Lovely apartment and best of all, a washer/drier. So all winter clothes are now clean and packed, and I'm ready to break out the summer gear.
Iceland does fish and chips very very well, but I will be very happy not to see it on a menu for quite some time. Around $35 for fish and chips, beers $10. Thanks for coming. :)
